Following the recent release of Sting’s highly anticipated rock/pop album 57th & 9th and with sold out concerts already confirmed in North America and Europe, Cherrytree Management and Live Nation are pleased to announced that Sting will have his Czech festival premiere as a headliner of Metronome Festival that will take place on 23 June 2017at Prague’s Vystaviste. Tickets will go on sale beginning 12 December to 31 January for a reduced price.

“We wished to bring Sting to Metronome from the very moment the festival was founded last year. We still can’t believe that it will actually happen in the second year. And we love to share our excitement with our fans,” says Barbora Subrtova, the festival’s music curator.

On the 57th & 9th Tour, Sting will be joined by a 3-piece band including his longtime guitarist, Dominic Miller, as well as Josh Freese (drums) and Rufus Miller (guitar).

Sting’s twelfth solo studio album, 57th & 9th, his first rock/pop project in over a decade, was released 11 November on A&M/Interscope Records. The ten-song collection represents a wide range of Sting’s musical and songwriting styles from the raucous, guitar-driven first single, “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You” to the ferocious, Road Warrior-style imagery of “Petrol Head” and the anthemic “50,000.”  The album, produced by Martin Kierszenbaum, was recorded in just a few weeks with Sting’s long-time collaborators Dominic Miller (guitar) and Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), as well as drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Guns n’ Roses), guitarist Lyle Workman and backing vocals by the San Antonio-based Tex-Mex band The Last Bandoleros.

Prague Metronome Festival’s first year introduced a great array of world-class artists such as Iggy Pop, Foals or The Kooks and it clearly proved that the kind of festival with a big foreign names is exactly what suites Prague very well and what this jewel among European cities missed so far. Critics praised especially it’s both foreign and local dramaturgy and location as well. The second year will surely continue in the same manner. “Our goal is to secure a firm position on the Czech and European festival scene alike. Our premise is an urban setting with the services and comfort only city can offer. On the other hand, the festival site is partly located within the park with a lot of green so it incites a proper festival mood,” adds Subrtova.

Founding of an internationally ambitious festival within the limits of a Czech capital was well acknowledged by the Prague’s mayor Adriana Krnacova. “To have such an important music festivals in Prague, with Hungarian Sziget in mind as a comparison, is a dream of every capital city’s council. We hope that it will attract new visitors to Prague and that it will help the city to be viewed as a historical and cultural center of Europe,” adds mayor.

Prague Metronome Festival is the new international festival in the Prague’s city center and it offers the most interesting international acts and the best Czech musicians alike. The first year was praised for it’s great overall concept, optimal position and well-chosen programme. Reviewers appreciated the presenting of artists like Iggy Pop, Foals, The Kooks, Ivan Kral or Jiří Suchý and praised the organizers for delivering an impressive experience.

Prague Metronome Festival was held under the auspices of Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnacova and Mayor of Prague 7 district Jan Cizinsky. General partner of the festival is Ceska sporitelna.
